Estherea Hotel, Amsterdam

The Estherea is a historic and family-run hotel with 71 rooms that all recently underwent a major renovation. This 4-star property now has luxurious furnishings and bathrooms in all of its rooms, complete with a minibar, safe, and wireless internet access. Unlike many other Amsterdam hotels, the Estherea has full elevator access, which you know is a big plus if you’ve stayed in one of the many stairs-only hotels left in the city. The lobby has also been renovated and is quite luxurious with several classy sitting areas, and there is even complimentary coffee, tea and snacks around the clock for guests.

The Estherea has a very central location overlooking the picturesque Singel canal. The neighborhood itself is very quiet although it’s a short walk from several different areas with active nightlife so it’s sort of the best of both worlds. It’s just a few minutes walk from Dam Square, which is the symbolic heart of the city, and also from Rembrandtplein Square, which is the best area for upscale bars and nightclubs. The long pedestrian-only shopping street of Kalverstraat is just a couple of short blocks away, and the restaurant and nightlife area of Leidseplein is less than a 15-minute walk as well.
Public transportation is close by, but even the main train station is less than a 15 minute walk. You can call a taxi from the hotel or catch one at the taxi stand in Dam Square just a couple blocks away. The location is also very close to the Anne Frank House and only a bit further from the lovely Jordaan neighborhood that is filled with small art galleries and restaurants.
