Canadian Embassy in Amsterdam

In spite of Amsterdam being the capital of the Netherlands, most of the mind-numbing government work is done in the The Hague (Den Haag). This includes the Canadian Embassy, unfortunately. Unlike the US, Canada does not have a consulate in Amsterdam (the UK closed its Amsterdam consulate in 2020, too), so you must travel to the embassy in Den Haag for all citizen services, and visa questions now go through Canada’s online IRCC web form.
You can reach Den Haag in about 50 minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal, and a full-price single in 2nd class is €15.30 as of 2026. Trains leave Amsterdam several times per hour during the day.
Directions to the Canadian Embassy from Den Haag Centraal Station:
Take bus 5, 22 or 24
Get off at the Mauritskade tram stop.
Walk in the direction of the statue (plein 1813), but stay on the left side of the road.
Turn left. After 100 meters you will find the Embassy building on the left.

Monday-Thursday, 08:30-12:30 and 13:30-17:00
Friday, 08:30-14:00
All visits are by appointment.

Monday-Thursday 09:00-12:30, by appointment only. Emergency help for Canadians is available 24/7.
