Golden Tulip Hotel Inntel – Amsterdam Centre

Golden TulipThe Golden Tulip Hotel sounds like a cozy and local Amsterdam inn, but it’s actually the flagship of a Dutch chain of hotels with 900+ locations in 50 countries. This central Amsterdam location is one of 9 hotels in and around Amsterdam itself. This is a 4-star property with 239 rooms and a very convenient location for business travelers and families, but not necessarily for other tourists. It’s not a typical cheap Amsterdam hotel and the prices reflect that. Everything is of international standard here, which sets it apart from many of the budget hotels in the city that have small rooms and lightweight furniture. All the rooms have free wifi, free coffee & tea service, a safe, a minibar, and everything else you’d expect to find in a luxurious business or resort hotel.

Location and neighborhood

Nieuwezijdskolk 19

1012 PV, Amsterdam
The Golden Tulip Hotel – Amsterdam Centre is located on a fairly busy street very close to Centraal Station and Dam Square. The main shopping district is in the area just behind the hotel, and there are many restaurants and bars in this area as well, although it’s not particularly close to the best nightlife areas, which are Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. In fact, being close to the train station, many of the restaurants and bars in the area tend to either cater to business travelers or be overpriced places that draw in tourist foot traffic.
There is an expensive parking lot next door, and very good road access so the location is ideal for those with a car and an expense account. The public transportation in Amsterdam is excellent though, and many trams run right along this street so you can be nearly anywhere in 10 minutes or so. The main museums are in the Museumplein area, which is about 20 minutes away on foot, but much less by tram.
